NACOM is a pioneer in conserving globally threatened biodiversity in the country. Biodiversity conservation is a major focus of NACOM activities. NACOM implemented a number of species conservation projects targeting threatened and globally significant species in their natural habitat. Since 1987, with support from the Government of Bangladesh and assistance from different donors, NACOM has made several efforts to conserve many threatened species, including Bengal Tiger, Asian Elephants, Non-human Primates, Dolphins, Pallas’s Fish Eagle, Spoon-billed Sandpiper, other birds, Gharial, Asian Water Monitors, Marine Turtles, Sharks, and Sting Rays.
