Sustainable Energy For Development (SED)- Installation of Solar Home Systems For Lighting Social Institution

Bangladesh is the most vulnerable country to global climate change in the world and facing natural disasters at a regular interval. The coastal areas of Bangladesh have already started suffering severely from the effects of climate change. The coastal area is the biggest victim of natural disasters such as cyclones and floods. During cyclone Sidr, in November 2007 and cyclone Aila in May 2009, severe storm surges impacted the south-western coastal region of Bangladesh disrupting the power. In some cases, the local people are still not able to get the proper power supply back. Thus to mitigate and provide continuous power supply with solar power, NACOM with the funding of GIZ is implementing this project to install Solar Home Systems providing lighting needs for social 350 institutions as cyclone shelters, schools, madrashas, etc.  By identifying the lighting needs of the social organizations
