On the 1st of June 2022 (Wednesday), Nature Conservation Management (NACOM) hosted a launching workshop for the NDC Action Project in Bangladesh at the Department of Environment (DoE) Auditorium. This NDC Action Project is being implemented in Bangladesh with the support from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the United Nations Copenhagen Climate Centre (UNCCC) and funded by the IKI Program of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, Germany. NACOM and BRAC are separately in charge of the two main components (Mitigation and Adaptation) of the NDC Action Project.
Dr. Farhina Ahmed, the Honorable Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of Bangladesh, was the Chief Guest, and Mr. Dr. Abdul Hamid, Director General, DoE, was the Special Guest at the workshop. The program was chaired by Mr. Sanjay Kumar Bhowmik, Additional Secretary (Environment), MoEFCC and National Focal Person, NDC Action Project Bangladesh. Mr. Mirza Shawkat Ali, Director, DoE (Climate Change and International Convention), gave the inaugural speech. Mr. Myung Kyoon Lee, Head of Institutional Development (UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre), gave a presentation on the project’s background and
current status.
Following Mr. Kyoon Lee, Mr. S M Munjurul Hannan Khan, Executive Director, NACOM, came on stage to give his presentation on current and future activities addressing the Mitigation component of the project. Later, Mr. A S Moniruzzaman Khan gave his presentation focusing on the project’s adaption component. At the workshop’s closing, an open discussion session was held to answer the attendees’ questions. The workshop touched over sixty participants from various ministries, government offices, development partners, and international and national organizations.
